Book Borrowing Policy - Al-Maghtas University

1. Definitions:

Borrower: A student, faculty member, or employee registered at the university.

Library: The university’s main or branch library.

Book: A printed or electronic material owned by the library.

 

2. Borrowing Conditions:

The borrower must have a valid university ID card.

The borrower’s loan card may not be loaned to other individuals.

 

3. Loan Period:

Students: 14 days, renewable once for a similar period.

Faculty members: 30 days, renewable.

Administrative staff: 21 days, renewable once.

 

4. Renewal:

Renewal is permitted once, provided the book is not requested by another borrower.

Renewal may be made through the borrower’s online account or in person.

 

5. Maximum Number of Books:

Students: Up to 5 books at a time.

Faculty members: Up to 10 books.

Administrative Staff: Up to 5 books.

 

6. Fines and Overdue:

A fine of 0.5 Jordanian Dinars per day will be charged for each book after the loan period has expired.

If the overdue period exceeds 30 days, borrowing will be suspended until the fine is paid and the books are returned.

 

7. Lost or Damaged Books:

The borrower is responsible for the books they borrow and bears the cost of replacing the lost or damaged book, or a similar book approved by the library, in addition to an administrative fee (5 Jordanian Dinars).

 

8. Return Procedures:

Books should be returned directly to the library reception desk or via the designated return box.

The book must be handed over to a library staff member or electronically registered upon return.

 

9. Exceptions:

Rare books, reference books, periodicals, and manuscripts may not be borrowed outside the library.

They may only be viewed inside the library.

 

10. Commitment and Signature:

The borrower must sign an electronic or paper form confirming their agreement to all of the above conditions upon first registering with the library.
